I would definitely replace the water pump. Also...

I would definitely replace the water pump. Also paint the new impeller with Marvel's Mystery Oil so if you do this again it won't hurt it. But a water pump is cheaper than a motor.

Sounds carb related as stated by Ferm. but be extra careful on the plastic carbs and make sure you put the jets back in the correct location or you will have a worse day.

they use to make cylinder caps for those OMC...

they use to make cylinder caps for those OMC Loopers. it was a SS outter sleeve to replace the rotted out aluminum around the cylinder to head areas.

i know the head gaskets say no sealent on them...

i know the head gaskets say no sealent on them but i've always had better luck with them if i spray copper coat on both sides of the gasket and let it dry over before installing them.
