Great engine, arguably one of the best omc ever built. It LIKES gas, and parts are starting to get tough to find as it's been out of production since 2004.

I have to agree with Ferm. Those old crossflows are monsters. I had one a few years back and regularly surfed Craigslist to find parts motors just in case I needed something. Ended up with 2 parts motors that were burned up. Wish I still had that ol girl. Great motor but yes drank the heck out of gas.

94 is not a crossflow, in 91 omc went to loopers for all the v6 engines. But they were just as thirsty on fuel.

Meant looper. Haha had an old '86 150 JohnsonRude (Frankenstiened) It was also a beast. All this big OMC's were great, as long as your VRO was upkept or bypassed. Always bypassed mine.

they had a lot of good ideas on those engine then screwed themselves with one or more stupid ideas. i personally don't like them and wont do anything other than basic service on them. The fuel/oil system is garbage and way more complicated than it needs to be. It has plastic carbs that are probably already warped due to age if not a heavy handed mechanic. Those carbs are no longer available. I've also seen those blocks corrode thru pretty bad as well.

I had 2 of those mid 90's loopers.....150hp, same motor.
If runs properly now, can be reliable but those are outdated so should be cheap.

De carb important, can be hard to start if it floods so follow proper cold start choking.
Powerful .........I believe the 150s were around 165 hp at prop.

I've got 2 of them in the counter 150 hp set, they are great motors from 92 up. Not really any issues except VRO Sucks.
