Default Keel guard question

Hey guys,

I have a keel guard on my V20. At the point where it makes it's more drastic bend, (where the bow sort of ends and the very bottom of the hull begins), the keel guard has come away a little. It's not bad, but there's an exposed "pocket" that certainly doesn't help performance.

So, I'm thinking that before bottom painting, I'll clamp it with some adhesive to seal it back up.

Looking for suggestions as to what I could use. I imagine that something like 3M 5200 might be a little too permanent?

I wish I had a pic of what I'm talking about, but I don't have one at the moment. Thanks!

My first inclination was to say, "use whatever keelguard recommends."

Then I googled and saw this (you may have already seen):

Cool

My personal opinion. If you want to remove it at some time in the future use 4200. If you want it to hold forever use 5200. That stuff will hold just about anything. (Make sure you wear disposable gloves.. no matter how hard you try, you WILL get some on your hand is you don't).

I think even if you use 5200 you’ll be able to remove it by sliding a sharp putty knife between the keel guard and hull. I don’t personally have much experience removing stuff installed with 5200 though.

Thanks guys. Ultimately- I'll probably go with the 5200. At this point, half my boat is made of 5200.

Just an FYI. They do make a solvent for 5200.

I am kind of late to the party on the topic, but last year I used 4200 on my keel guard at that location. So far, so good.

hey you can wash 5200 off now with ease. They now make a can of 5200 remover that breaks it down to get the old off.
