Default Happy Valentines Day first fish of 2018

was not caught on a V20, but went with a buddy on his 20 dusky, so very similar

17" sheephead. this is the first one i have caught on a hook and line. i've shot them diving and caught them in a cast net.

not sure of the table quality, but gonna try it on the grill tonight.

thought that might get you northern guys in a fishing mood. caught it on a small baitcaster with 10 lb test, was a fun fight.

I grilled it, meat was very white, but not too flaky. thought it might be similar to trigger fish, but not as firm. good to get some fresh fish after two months of freezer fish.

looking forward to spring

there is a growing fishery for giant sheepshead in South Jersey (Barnegat Inlet and south). They catch them over 10 pounds routinely. Guys started catching them while Tog fishing the sod banks and jetties.
