thought that might get you northern guys in a fishing mood. caught it on a small baitcaster with 10 lb test, was a fun fight.
I grilled it, meat was very white, but not too flaky. thought it might be similar to trigger fish, but not as firm. good to get some fresh fish after two months of freezer fish. looking forward to spring |
Nice one Phat! that's some good eatin there. Almost like spade fish, good stuff!
there is a growing fishery for giant sheepshead in South Jersey (Barnegat Inlet and south). They catch them over 10 pounds routinely. Guys started catching them while Tog fishing the sod banks and jetties.
great eating, what did he bite? We catch them on fiddler crabs.
very small live shrimp, threaded on a small hook.
