Default Under gunnel rod boxes

My plastic liners for the rods were cracked and crumbling apart. So I decide to build new ones. I trimmed off the edges of the old liner, and used the back. Then I made a box out of PVC tuff board. Never rots..or cracks. Epoxy filled in the holes, painted with Plastic Paint. Now it will get installed using finishing washers.

This is what it looked like. Very strong..the teak rod holders hold it in the middle very tightly. Originally they just hung from the plastic. Now they are drilled from top bottom and back.

Dry Fitted...

A little more finishing and they will be mounted in.

Now just have to do the other side.... its a mess too.

Home Depot has the tuff board. It works great for these type of applications. There is no heavy load on those boxes. The teak makes it very strong also.

Completed the other side today after work. Amazing how fast you can go when you have one done to measure from. Will post photos when they are mounted. Keeping them loose...while I run some new wires.
