Ideally one of these...

I mounted a transom pump with a scoop i made out of a PVC 45*. when running, i don't need to run the pump. it is probaly not strong enough for a wash down , great for a live well.

you don't need a 45* you can just cut the pipe off at a 45 facing forward.

i tried that but the nipple of the pump sets off the transom about 3/8". *by putting the 45 on, it lets the fitting rest against the hull and i gobberd some 5200 to tack it in place. *i like the system but the pumps have a short life because it is under water except when running. *i generally have to replace it every 2 years. you can see the gap in the last shot

Thanks for the help and ideas. I've decided to go thu the hull as I have plenty of room to work with under the splash well. I will have to pull the batteries to access the area but thats only for some working room when installing. The wife is going to get me one for my birthday so now I just need to pick out the proper unit.

Washdown is awesome. I wash my boat in the lake all the time. Nice for cooling off on a hot day without having to get in the water too.

Mine is a Shurflow.

I still have a few questions which maybe you could help with.
1. How many GPM do I need for good water flow and preasure?
2. What size plumbing did you use 3/4?
3. Should I go with an automatic (cuts on when you squess the nozzel) with a kill swith or one which works by the switch only?
4.I have decided that a dry run pump is one thing I do want.
