Adding A Raw water Wash Down

I'm looking to add a raw water wash down and I really do not know much about what to look for when purchasing. I have a 1983 CC and have room under the splash well to the left of the batteries. I know to use a brass pickup and a brass shut off valve but not sure what size pump to purchase to get the desired water preasure. The pump will be located close to the thru hull pick up and I do know that I need one thats self priming. Any ideas and thoughts would help and also I need to know who would have the best prices for ordering this stuff. Thanks for any help.

I got one of these and love it. Plenty of power, auto shut off, self priming, etc...

PS: DONT buy your washdown waterhose from the boat store. Go to Home Depot of Lowes and get one of the coiled 25 or 50' hoses for 15 bucks. ;)

Is it best to have the tru hull in the hull or transom. The only thing I could figure is that if it in the transom I could not use while running the boat. What size thru Hull did you use 3/4" and you get plenty of water preasure with that unit. I'd rather spen a few bucks more to get higher preasure if needed.

I got a 3/4" thru hull in the bilge floor so water while running isnt a problem. Im not sure how it would work on the transom....depends on speed and how much hull is in the water I reckon. :-/
