The VRO on the '85 Sea Drive just taken off my boat was still pumping fine after 19 years. I've seen posts that go both ways, but more seem to disconnect than not, however, my experience does not indicate that it's necessary. As RAP pointed out, it is easy to mix. A new VRO pump for my old motor would have been around $350 I think.

CT, whats up? how are ya buddy ol pal...alright enough gushing,if that pump were to crap out tomorrow I would premix rather than replace the pump.Hell I've been doing the 50:1 for about 25 years...no worries.

You guys are hittin' all around the problem...if that pump craps out, $350 for a new pump will be just the beginning of what you could spend...and the pump doesn't have to go for the system to fail...my brother-in-laws(keeps his boat imacculate) oil intake clogged...mucho $$$ before next splash :P...
I just came to the conclusion: if it ain't under warranty, MIX... ;) ;D

Great advise RAP Mixing is no big deal compared too rebuilding.

thanks fellas,... more than likely that is what i'll do.I'm going to have my mechanic go thru that motor with a microscope first, then take it from there
