Default it's mine now!

one of the sweetest deals i've ever made!I TRADED my 1986 Angler cc w/ a 90 h.p. mercury for the v20.The angler was very clean, the motor was immaculate and it was a nice platform to fish from, however, it was a wet ride even in one foot chop,a forgiving ride for a bay boat, but wet.Anyway thru this forum I found my new ride and I owe it all to CT V20.It was his post on Feb. 22nd in the Conn. bargain news.I called the guy, we got talking etc. etc. he told me he was looking to "downsize" to a smaller boat ,preferably a center console.Long story short, he clearly didnt know what a v20 was all about and we traded...even swap...done.Took my Angler to Bridgeport by way of ferry, came back to Port Jefferson with a real nice v20...NOW CAN I ORDER A T-SHIRT?Can't wait for my maiden voyage, it's going to be a good summer!

CT V20 did seem to have a good eye in the for sale dept.,alot of Conn. boats.Anyway my new rig is an 1986 hull, on the 1-10 scale I give it an 8.There is a little dock rash port/stern, nothing major one, busted rear hatch latch and 1 maybe 2 missing snaps for the cocpit cover. The motor is a real clean 150 "Loop charged" Johnson. At this point the only problem I see is the steel rod that the motor trims down to is rusted ... overall,it looks really good,100 lbs in all 6 cylinders,on the 1-10...8.5.Trailer is 1995 ez loader all roller and hardwear are bran new...downside... the winch line is rope, that will probably the first thing i'll replace...1-10,...9.More than likely i'll replace both batteries, well one is dead and the other is some K-mart 29.95 special.Never owned a boat with 2 batteries.Overall, the boat is really nice and I am anxious to "splash"...maybe late this week or the weekend

Congrats Phester! I got my V-20 on Sunday so I know exactly how you feel.

They say the two best days in the life of a boater are the day he buys it and the day he sells it. You did both in the same day!

Post pictures!

Have you run the motor...this is just me, but I'd disconnect that VRO and start mixing oil/gas...I know, I know...sounds like a GIANT step backwards, but I've seen too many OMCs of that era toasted due to auto-oiler failure...don't wanna scare you or throw water on a GREAT time for you, but just a "heads up"...mixing is NOT difficult w/an Accu-Mix bottle($3.99) or simular...I'd hate for you to learn about this "the HARD way"... ::) ;) ;D...

You're gonna LUV that boat... 8) ;D

thanks for all the replies, this is truly a brotherhood.hey RAP, I have entertained the idea of disconnecting the VRO, I have heard opinions from both sides of the fence on that one. I know that the early VRO's were destine for failure. This motor is a 1993 with at least on the outside very little use for a 12 year old outboard.Any additional feedback on the disconnect would help.As soon as I figure out this camera, then figure out how to download, then post, i'll flood y'all with pictures. Thanks again guys for all the best wishes
