just check the compression and if it's good and the spark is hot no water in the lower unit use it. you can buy a new motor and it break the first time out, when you know how you motor is, if it's good on those above use it.

Ah Skools, the other side of the coin. Point well taken. Spark is good, lower unit is great, and in general the engine has never skipped a beat. It's been lovingly maintained and generally has a darn good life. If anything, its been over-maintained if there is such a thing. But, Momma's been exposed to the newer quiet, smoke free, and vibration free outboards. As we grow were getting to the point that we could actually afford such a beast, where in the past it was never an issue cause we couldn't afford anything new. God Bless America, oops, can I say that.....
