Reelapeelin, talk to me... ;D Wife has opened up negotiations on a new 4-stroke. She started it, not me. Anyways, with whats available around me I'd probably go Merc or Honda. I could get a deal on a Verado as my neighbor is the dealer but I don't think i want a blower on my boat. I would consider an Opti but wifey thinks 4 strokes are the schnizzle. After running that honda for ahwile, you happy? Got any real world fuel use and performance #'s? Any opinions apprectiated. Airslot |

Re: Reelapeelin, talk to me... Honda's have an issue with the crank seal washer between the powerhead and the midsection. One beware of known about issue. |

Re: Reelapeelin, talk to me... Thanks guys. Tin, I'd thought of those zukes and nearly hung one (140) a couple years ago. There's just not a dealer in my neck of the woods and parts service are already hard enough to come by for Zuke. I've been on a mess of boats w/ honda's and they seem great. Just haven't operated one on a boat similair to ours. I've run a pair of 225's on a Worldcat 33te and a pair of 150's on a 26' Glacier Bay. In both cases I'd give them a 10 out of 10. I'm friends w/ teh local Merc dealer as well as the Honda/Rude dealer. Airslot |

Re: Reelapeelin, talk to me... I agree on Honda's quality. I owned a Suzie 2 stroke and loved it. At first dealer/service was a problem for me too then one opened locally. Not sure what the Honda's are weighing in at these days, used to be pretty hefty. I like the HP/weight ratio of the 4s Suzies. Eihter way I don't think you can go wrong. |

Re: Reelapeelin, talk to me... Airslot...sorry it took so long to respond...one word settled me on a Honda: RELIABILITY...and it's been flawless since installation...extremely quiet at idle and can carry on conversation much easier while planed out...reduction in VIBRATION from old Rude was FIRST thing I noticed...V20 suddenly felt like NEW BOAT... :o...no numbers for you on gas consumption, but per trip's use is close to half what it used to be...'86 150 Rude was a REAL gas guzzler!!... ::)... One downside: holeshot...not a skier's friend...w/no tow it comes up fine, but tie off a decent size guy gettin' up w/one ski and he's gonna fight it to get up...if your's doesn't do tow-duty, you won't notice it... ;) ;D... If I's gonna buy a new motor today for my V20, it'd be a 200, small-block E-Tec...wish they had been out when I had to repower...go test drive one... |

Re: Reelapeelin, talk to me... Thanks RAP. No sking for me, this is a feeshin boat. I've heard good things on the Etecs also. Who knows. I'll probably let the coin soak in the bank for a while and see how the 150 Merc does this year. It's been a problem free motor but its an 88' and, I'm starting to think twice before some of my long winter time runs. I guess its the aging process, aint as fearless as I used to be. Here's an issue that I find funny. We may go spend 11k on a motor but, if it cuts my cost per trip 30% the wife will think it's great. So maybe I save $10 maybe $20 a trip, big deal. It is to her. Bottom line is I'd probably fish more because I'd buy less fuel. Airslot |

Re: Reelapeelin, talk to me... Stinky, it's all about appearance. If i spend 11k to save $30 a week it makes momma happy. And do you know what happens when momma's happy...... ;D ;D ;D Airslot |
