That oil was in storage to be used in an emergency like a war. That's why it's called the "Strategic Reserve". There's nothing strategic about how 50 million barrels were just squandered.

Oh, and 50 million barrels is only a 2 and a half day supply for the United States at our present level of consumption. So exactly HOW would it have helped anyone?

Fact #676: U.S. Refiners Produce about 19 Gallons of Gasoline from a Barrel of Oil. A standard U.S. barrel contains 42 gallons of crude oil which yields about 44 gallons of petroleum products. The additional 2 gallons of petroleum products come from refiner gains which result in an additional 6% of product.

I’ve checked your so called facts several times and found you wrong each time .
Such as the time you tried to claim popularity rating was based on general population till I fight you and you had to walk it back with “ oh Um gee wiz i meant among independents “
Yeh sure ……..

Yep, You keep quoting it like some it's kind of trophy for you. It's the one and only time that I made a mistake/typo/error, that I readily admitted to with a link as proof that what I said was true among independents.

As to that mistake on my part, so what???

This is a post about oil and using the STRATIGIC RESERVE to help pay for the Infrastructure bill nonsense. The 18 million barrels are right in the bill. Look it up. As to the other 32, like I said, I could not confirm that it was sold also, but it seems logical. And in all cases the entire 50 million barrels would only last 2 and a half days IF (and that's a big IF) it all went to the American public. To me, it looks like a raid by the Democrats to help pay for the Infrastructure bill). IMHO

The oil in our strategic supply is actually heavy crude and not the best for industrial use .
We can afford to purge some of it - use some .
600 MILLION barrels worth stored in the salt caves.

Heavy crude is what is used in industrial applications. #2 bunker oil is the thickest. (So thick it usually has to be warmed before it will flow) It's used in most ship's boilers and in industrial applications.

Brent crude is a much lighter oil and is usually used to make various fuels, etc. used in transportation applications.

ALL oil can be cracked/distilled to make fuels. But the grade of the oil determines the amount of fuel (Gas, Diesel, Kerosene, JP2, JP4, JP5, etc.)
that you can get out of each barrel.

Thank you for making the decision that we can afford to use some of it to pay for an Infrastructure bill. I'm sure our soldiers. sailors and airmen that might have to depend on that oil for fuel for their war machines are much relieved to know that it's ok with you to sell it off.

Hardly. 50 Million barrels is 1/12th or just over 8% of our entire reserves.

And oil prices just fell 13% yesterday on covid concerns.
We don’t need to sit on 600 million barrels of oil in caves.
