Hey Pipe, How do you like that engine with your V-20? At one point I thought about repowering my V-21 with that same engine. I had one on a 22 ft Bay boat that I had and loved it. Always thought it would be a great fit on a Wellcraft. Looks like it rides plenty high enough in the water.

I haven't even yet run it a full hour, so not much yet that I can tell you. After launching I ran it up the creek a ways. It got up on plane quick enough and ran smooth. I'm accustomed to 2-stroke sounds and power, so it's very quiet. Going out of town this weekend -- bad timing -- so I probably won't get it even broken in for another 2 weeks. I was told by "those in the know" that it would be as strong or stronger than my old 200 HPDI, but I have my doubts about that.

Do you still have your V-21? She's a beauty.

Question

Pipe, what brand and type of bottom paint are you running? How long between repaints?

The fellow that did all the work this year painted the bottom while he had it, and I couldn't get ahold of him yesterday so I don't know. I should see him this weekend and I'll find out.

Thinking about what you're going to put on the Trader?
