As for the wood in the boat, ideally I would like to have no wood at all in the boat. Seacast is the pourable stuff correct? I have a bad taste about some composites as my buddy's boat had a composite floor put in and around his gas tank it actually got soft and spongy due to water getting in screw holes. I thought that was the sole purpose of the composite?? Not sure exactly what it was but I need to try to find out so I can avoid it.
yes, seacast is the pourable stuff. been around long enough that i would call it proven technology. i have it in my transom and stringers and im impressed. but do your own research, theirs lots of info out there. as for your buddies boat... probably more to do with craftsmanship than material. anddont be afraid of foam either. tons of horror stories of waterlogged foam. pretty sure my dually has that issue cause it list hard to stbd. i just correct it with my tabs for now. but when the fishing slows down and i redo it i wil absolutely put foam back in every single air void in it. good quality products that are properly installed...there is absolutely no reason not to use current technology on these old boats
