I guess everyone's had a special car during their life. Mine was a 1966 Ford Mustang Fastback 2+2
Blue with the white pony interior with the rally pac on the steering column. 289 high performance engine with the high rise intake manifold and the stock from the factory 4 barrel. God I loved that car. The engine finally blew @ 115,000 miles and I sold it for $1200 in 1978 with the blown engine. Zero rust on the floorboards... the PO had it undercoated from day one. I miss it to this day. ![]() I still have the Rally Pac... took it off before I sold the car... Someday I hope to mount it on another 66 stang.

The Muscle car era was a bit before my time(I'm only 30), but I didn't say I wasn't interested in them. When I was a kid my dad had a 67 CHEVY II NOVA and I still to this day have a soft spot for a nice well done CHEVY II. If I could afford it I would have one now. I've still got a drag car out in the garage that was my dad's before he passed away, I just can't afford to play with it as it is one EXPENSIVE ride. It's capable of running well into the 7 second range in the quarter mile as it ran a 4.91 in the 1/8th mile first time out with no doors on it for a test and tune trial run. I'm now into diesels and have my SUBURBAN which is pretty much a VERY unexpected sleeper for a street vehicle. Something that weighs almost 7,000 pounds shouldn't get up and go like it does, and it's only running a small tune right now.

Guess I an old man here. When I was in High school muscle cars were out of flavor and easy to buy. I bought my friend's Dad's 1970 442 and immediately wrecked it. Bought a 73 Chevelle SS with a small block and couldn't understand why it was so slow. We had GTO's,Camaros, mustangs, Impalas, etc. that we treated like crap. No one knew or could have predicted that these cars would later become so valuable. Cripes, I remember one drunkin night offroading in a big block Impala convertible laughing as we bounced what wasn't all that rough of a car off nearby trees. Gas crisis quickly had me in European cars and owned a string of em. Lived in Mexico and got the VW fever (bug) , returned to the States and immediately sold off all my British cars. I had recently restored a cherry 68 Austin Healy BJ8 3000 and thought I was D. Trump cause I got 16k for it and bought my first house in 1986, ugh. Sold Porches for a time and built a lightweight non sunroof 73 911 with a weber carbed 3.0 liter not a drag car but with the lsd and different ring &p certainly embarrased a lot of stop light jockeys. Life happened, mortgages, kids, jobs etc. and the cars got sold or parked. Happy for right now just to fly a boat every now and then nothing like twin whatevers screaming behind you and all your cares disappearing with the wake. With three kids to put through college looks like the closest muscle car experience for me for some time will be driving the family suburban with a 6.0.
