I don't think using hardened push rods will solve your problem. I think it may be more of a lash/geometry issue. there is a way to set the valve lash with various length push rods. You have to get the lifter all the way deflated to check the lash. I allways wanted to use a set of adjustable rocker arms on the head, you can use a set made for a 429/460 Ford or adapt a set from a big block checy. It may take a little work, But I bet it would be worth it, it would solve your valve train issues
