The compression is between 72 and 77 on all 6 cylinders. Is this OK?
NYMack... how about that T/T? I have the electric on the throttle and under the cowling, but missing the T/T entire assembly, including any wiring harness that may be needed. I can drive down to pick it up. Last edited by awthacker; 12-02-2010 at 11:50 AM. |

that's a 20" motor. compression should be 115 min to 135 max on each cylinder.

Someone on Iboats said that the v6 was a low compression engine. I still don't know what should be expected with that, though. Regardless... does low compression mean time for a rebuild or are you suggesting just to part it out & move on with a replacement engine?

check it with another guage, you could have a bad gauge. I look for consistancy between the cylinders. The odds of all the cylinders being worn out the exact same is pretty rare, it could happen, but it would be rare. I think Skools had one that was low on all the cylinders. If the 185 was a comercial version of the 200, it would come with the low compresion head gaskets, that would effect the compresion as well.

yeah i have one that has near 2500 hrs and it is suppose to be 140 psi and it has 77 to 80 on all cylinders.
