Thanks for the info.... at 5 gph a guy can afford not to have to row home!
At 12-18 gph its a different story. Better have vikings for buddies.

randleman's numbers should be more realistic than mine.
I was basing my numbers on when my father had the V with a 140 crossflow. About 25-30mph, about 10-12 gallons per hour, 30 mile trip (2-3mpg).
By comparison the 4 strokes do have considerable more hp and better fuel efficiency than the older 2 strokes.
I would expect a 100 horse to be a constant strain and burn considerable more fuel than a 140 horse at the same speeds.
randlemans' numbers should translate to 5-6 gallons per hour.

I just checked last weeks fruitless fishing trip with the current setup I've got.
Burned right at 15 gallons, traveled near 55 miles, got a little better than 3.5mpg.
