Here in NC the "Bermuda High" is your friend. *I take mine out 25 miles all the time, well, as often as I can. *But like others have said, pick your day. *1-2 ft is best, 2-3 is ok, 3-4 is pushing the comfort level (you've been waiting all week and it's the last shot you have for that trip), 4-5 fish for flounder inside.

Now that I have the fuel capacity, I am planning on 45 mile (one way) trips. *But that will have to wait until my sons football season ends.

I've had this V out in all kinds of weather and seas up to 8' which was very sketchy gettin' through. I've learned to pick my days where I usually just go 15-29 miles w/o worry.

25 miles?
Here that is just starting to hit deeper water of close to 60'.
15 miles out and you are only in 35' to 40'.
So yes, the V20 is a great boat to take out on regular 25-30 mile out trips.

With this '72 Center Console, 2' to 4' seas are nothing, but when they change to 3'-5', you wonder why you are out there.

I've been out about 25 in mine, very comfy. I've been 40 miles up the coast away from the inlet before in some real slop....with a carbed 2 stroke and 60 gallons I was a little worried. :-/ But the pounding was getting there so we just surfed back. ;)

Thats a good point BR, unless you are really unlucky, you only get beat up going one way.

The word is pick your days. On the east coast if wind is out of east or NE no matter the sea stay inside. Things can go downhill quick. The real issue is not the wave hight but the period. Two foot seas with a 3 sec period will beat you to death six footers at 6/7 sec period just big swell. I have a friend who used to tuna fish out of a 22 foot carolina skiff 30 miles out he got wet alot and picked his days. On a real good day its not the size of the boat but the fuel you have

I DO MY BOATING IN MIAMI, FOR US 25 MILES IS A REGULAR DAY, BUT MEK SURE YOUR GAS IS GOOD TO RETURN, I MEAN YOU HAVE TO KNOW HOW MUCH FUEL YOUR BOAT USES.
I'VE BEEN IN BIMINI (BAHAMAS) MANY TIMES (48 NMI)
AAND THE PREVIOUS OWNER TOOK THE BOAT TO CUBA IN 1980 (W/SPARE GAS TANKS). THESE BOATS ARE VERY
SEAWORTHY, BUT NOTHING SUBSTITUTE GOOD JUDGEMENT AND SEAMANSHIP.
I FORGOT TO MENTION THAT I CARRY AN E.P.I.R.B. 406 MHZ IN THE BOAT AND A 4 PERSONS LIFE RAFT AND A GOOD RADIO.
