I have the 3x8's on edge too & it seems to be a much sturdier arrangement, a 2 x 6 flat bend way too easy so your support is only close to where the brackets are.
I was skeptical of them when I bought the boat but it is one of the asiest to use & sturdiest trailer rigs I've used. Nice lookin' rig Doug
