Mine will run 38-40ish with my 120 Force (likely way less HP than 120). IMO a 140-150 would be perfect. I have a buddy down here with a 150 OMC on the same boat and his will top out at 55ish but cruises effortlessly at around 3K RPMs. I am going to re power with a V6 when time comes but its certainly not a necessity. A good 120HP is just fine unless you want more speed/power. 235 is just ludicrous. I think Skools might have repowered that boat.

Been missing you folks, sorry. The wife unit and her schooling along with work/honey do's, etc...not alot of net time.

Hey Stinky!

I seem to remember FERM saying one time that a 235 is like 200 hp at the prop, so its only 50 hp over the limit.

I say if it runs ok, keep it til it quits.

You could always put a 150 hood on it and only use 3/4 throttle.

The 235 was built up until 85, and in 86 it became the EVINRUDE XP which was a strong 175HP at the prop(real close to 200). The weight difference between the 150 and 235 is negligeable, maybe 10 pounds difference due to the bubble back exhaust and such. Just keep in mind that the 235HP will have enough HP to tear the transom off if you have it propped with an aggressive prop and loaded down. The older cross-flow engines make the majority of there power down low and have strong grunt to em getting on plane. Also watch your WOT RPM's, at 5750 the flywheels on the cross-flows are known to explode and become some VERY dangerous projectiles, 5500 is the max you want to turn it stock. I would set the throttle stop on the engine to a bit over half throttle and just run it easy.
