First off are you sure it's a 235? The 150-235 all used the same cowling for quite some time. MAX HP for that hull is 150HP IIRC, and anything more would be overkill I would think. A 150 will push a V-20 along nicely, so an 18 shouldn't need nowhere near that much. For a wiring diagarm you are pretty much on your own there. So many things changed from year to year and from owner to owner that it is all pretty much a mystery after 20+ years.

take a 6 gallon portable tank and hook it to the motor
run WOT if it runs out of gas in 15 minutes or less, its a 235. as far as wiring, like ferm said, i'd cut it all out(except engine) and start over. when your through it will be a mess, but it will be your mess. |
LMFAO, Phat you are funny

Yeah its hard for me to believe theres a 235 on an 18. Got a 120 on mine...will go back with a 150-175 when repowering but not because it needs it, because Im a nut job.

ok guys i checked and it is a 235 the guy i got it from said he bought it and had it put on him self ..........so do i need to sell this motor and get a 150 ??
as for the wiring i needed it for the key switch not the boat ..thanks for your input it helps |
I think a 235 is probably way too much motor for that boat. Stinkyhooker has a 18' Wellcraft center console. Stink, whatcha think?
