down here that was actually a really popular and reliable engine for mud boats. by putting a closed cooling system with Keel cools (heat exchangers on the bottom of the boat) it was an awesome set up and you didnt have to worry about crap of corrosion of the engine block. alot of people would put then on either custom made hulls or kingfisher hulls. also a very good friend of mine has a mud boat with a mazda rotary in it, it can take on any v-6 v-8 mud boat out there. where the rotary has the advantage is weight againts the v-8's and 6's. unless someone put a LS series v-8 then it might be a different story.
