For an engine that get's regular use, that is VERY believeable. It's probably the original powerhead as well. 2 strokes can run for a LOOONNGGG time if they get used frequently and fed a diet of good clean fuel and oil. 6,000-8,000 hours would be a good life expectancy for it if cared for. Many commercial fishermen have reported 6,000+ hours before needing any major engine work on old school 2 strokes. And these engines aren't that that bad on fuel. Just checked mine today with an uncalibrated flow meter(think it's reading a little high), my 200 burns 11-11.3 GPH at 3600, 12.2-12.5 GPH at 3800, 13.3-13.6 at 4000, and was sucking back 22.4 at 5400(still not broken in yet). These numbers are on a powerhead with less than 5 hours since major overhaul, and running on year old gas that is double mixed with oil. Not to shabby I think.
