Its just a screw with a non threaded shaft for the plastic handle can turn with out getting caught on the threads.
I believe that you might be able to put the bolt Thur the plastics knob and a nut on the back, then screw to the boat? Or just run a bolt Thur the plastic knob and screw to boat but not tight all the way so it can move. Its easy baby, just don't think so hard
