Door Buttons

OK, so I am replacing a couple of Perko "Door Buttons" and the ones I got (on Ebay) say they are supplied "without spring and requires a no. 8 oval head pivot screw". So, the plastic knob right now just will fall right off. Problem is I can't figure out what an oval head pivot screw is. Can anyone help me out? See photo below....

Its just a screw with a non threaded shaft for the plastic handle can turn with out getting caught on the threads.

I believe that you might be able to put the bolt Thur the plastics knob and a nut on the back, then screw to the boat? Or just run a bolt Thur the plastic knob and screw to boat but not tight all the way so it can move.

Its easy baby, just don't think so hard:booty:

An oval head is just like a flat head (like the screws that hold the door hinges to the door and jamb in your house), except that the head is slightly rounded - it humps up a little, rather than sitting flush with the surface it's screwed into. They're asking for the oval head because it gives a nicer finished look - a flat head will work fine, but like MJ says you want one with some non-threaded shank to keep from wearing out the hole in the plastic gizmo. Use a screw or MJ's machine screw with a nut and a little thread lock (or a second locking nut) so it stays put, but use a good stainless one.
