About relocating the vents. Don't quote me on this but I think there may be a rule against the vent being higher than the fill.

If the vent is above the fill then you can overfill your tank without warning until you get a gusher at the filler.

Not saying it's a bad idea but I wonder if there is a reason why every boat I've seen has the vents lower than the filler.
