Why is that picture so small ??? You can still see how much brighter the boat came up in the second pic.

I think you sanded too much, you made it shrink.

The small issue sounds like a personal problem, but I hear doctors can fix that problem now. ;D

On my way out the door to work I looked at the area I did this morning and it actually looks pretty good, I guess the sun got in the right spot. I think I'll do more with the 3M (it was free) and see how it goes. It really brought back the colors in the stripes.

I used this stuff and was more than happy with the results. Its three steps. 1-scrub the boat with their boat cleaner which removes stains and oxidation. 2-Wash boat with their boat soap to remove all of the first cleaner. 3-paint on the vertgal glass which you have to do in several coats but it goes on quick and very easy. Look at the pictures on the site of boats that used this system and they are the same results I had and it will also bring the shine back to your stripes. I did around 6 coats on my haul and it took about 2 hours of easy work. Cleaning the boat is the hard part. Then every year add a few coats and it will bring the shine back if it even faded at all. I have found with wax it last only about a month before it starts to lose its shine and this stuff lasted all year. It also last longer with the more coats you use.

If it has glossy spots then the gelcoat is probably fine. Go spend 20 bucks and find out. Get some good hull cleaner like On/off and some fiberglass wax and restorer. Clean it good and then wax a spot...It will brighten right up I promise u!
Gel coat is VERY tough...that "chalkyness" is just a sign of poor maintenance, not a bad hull. ![]() ![]()

Yes It will eat up galvanize too...and asphalt....just rinse all of it off quickly and you will be fine. I do mine on the trailer and its fine as long as u keep it rinsed.
