Look at this one for $425K. That would be over 1 million on any other lake even though it is a 2 bdrm cottage.

I am torn on coast or hill country lake type thing. Whatever I do it will be a lot less expensive than that, the plan would be to by an initial property, small now, something inexpensive where I can stay and establish a residence and later when we finally do sell the house in the peoples republic buy something a little more elaborate either there our somewhere else, using this property as a second home.

Well, seeing as NC is THE BEST place to live in the WORLD, our realestate prices are through the roof. Don't even try coming down here to Wilmington and expect to spend less 500k for something 1 mile inland. JK it's not all that expensive, but I would agree about looking around Morehead area. Maybe even New Bern area. It's up the river a way, it all opens into big water. It might not be as big a town as you're wanting, but it's a beautiful place.

I am not even going to try to convince anyone that Central Indiana is the place to be. Flat, no water, lots of corn and soybeans. Definitely not a boater's paradise!
