Okay, I'm back in the market... Going to look at a 91 20' Hydrasport tomorrow or Wednesday. The tilt/trim is going bad on it, so it would mean some work for me. I'd likely try to fix/replace tilt/trim then swap motors with the V20. Motor is a 91 Evinrude 225.

Saw this one yesterday. Given the market, I hit for the wall and offered him $5500 seeing as I'd have to spend $1k to $1.5k for a trailer... He said no and that he was going to stick with his price... Motor is only 3 years old, probably less than 10 hours on it, he said. Boat looks nice, he sent pics...

I know Kamikaze, I know... Sorry buddy. But this time for real--the wife is on board. I just transferred some funds to the checking account. Should have cash in hand in the next couple of days or so...

Hey, do you guys know anything good or bad about the Sunbird/OMC Neptune boats? I came across one that looks nice, but I have never heard of them before. Some say they're made by the same guy who designed Sea Hunt. Some say Hydrasport used the same hull for their seahorse... Anyway, what do you know? Here's the boat in question:

Also, what about Cobia? Just need a trailer for this one:

SUNBIRD/NEPTUNE is a HYDRA-SPORT entry level boat. The hulls were designed by HYDRA-SPORTS, but sold under another name after OMC lost HYDRA-SPORTS in the 90's. They are just a basic entry level hull, nothin fancy.

the Neptunes were built in Columbia SC at the Sunbird plant, they were on par with the Sunbird boats built there( entry level), the one we see around here haven't fared too well, they were not the best of boats available. OMC droped the Sunbird line and started building the Hydrasports there in Columbia. Sea Hunt is built somewhere nearby( can't remember where), one of the chief designers there used to work for Stingray boats( built in Hartsville SC) Sea Hunt is a far better built boat( I've worked on severral) than the Neptunes, and some people don't care for the Hydra Sports built during that time( Red Lightning Stripe), I personally don't have any experiance with the Hydra's of that era.

How comfortable would you guys be buying an older Seabird like this one:

http://www.classicseacraft.com/forum...b=5&o=&fpart=1

I'm a bit skeptical about buying such an old boat, even with updates. Are the Seacrafts really that good?

This boat looks like it could be a good deal. Maybe too much boat for me though. I really would like something closer to 20-22 feet.
