Default NEED A REEL.

i just got a new star spinning rod and need a reel for it.
i have always used penn but this is a different animal.
its a 6.5 foot stand up small tuna rod, 30 or so pound. got a ton of backbone and i need something tough to stand up to some of those blistering tuna runs. . . . . . dont wanna hafta replace it any time soon.
needs to be durable as hell.

any suggestions ?

handsome man , I have a shimano tekota 800 on a tsunami 5 ' 9 " pole max 80 lb tess. and it wont break the bank.

I think that I know the rod which you speak of. If it's the same one, I handled it the other day with a Shimano 4500 Baitrunner mounted and it was well balanced. I was thinking it would be a good spinner for big rock in heavy current areas, maybe even good for some wreck fishing.

I'll second the bait runner, I use a 4500 for my surf fishing and love it.
For the boat I have a Shimano Sustain 8000, a bit expensive, but worth every penny ;D

I use her litle sister (Sustain 5000) for schooly Blue Fins to 30lbs (biggest so far) and with 100% confidence ;D

I would second the shimano baitrunner. Or if youwant a slightly better drag then the shimano thunnus. The baitrunner feature is a big selling point for me on both of these reels. I have about 10 of them and havent been able to destroy one yet. I have also heard good things about the Quantum Cabo & Boca PT spinning reels but dont own any. Stay away from the Okuma's they dont hold up to larger fish.
