Default Motor too low???

My motor is mounted through the top hole (lowest setting).

I almost can leave motor trimmed all the way down all the time. She pops right on plane but after plane I can pretty much leave it if there is any kind of chop but I usually trim it up just a bit. If it's flat I can trim up more and get a decent amount more speed but she'll pound easily and even porpoise at times.

I opened her up yesterday and got 5300 rpms (new tach) but only for a very short period, lots of boat traffic made it choppy. I'm pretty sure I would a couple or few hundred more rpm's if I timmed her up for a dfew more seconds, I think I'm propped right, 14x19p. 3800rpms = 32-33 mph, nice cruise:)

It seems like I should have more "trim down", could this be motor mounted too low, should I move up a hole?

Has it got good bite thru turns at speed Tin, if it doesn't you might have to go down a hole of two.
If it bites well in a turn and thru a chop the only real question is , is it low enough to let you trim the boat where you want it thru all sea conditions, if so don't change a thing.

I think I'd like to have just a bit more down trim. I know trim tabs would fix the problem, which really isn't a problem :-/ I could trim up the motor a bit then trim down with tabs. I also have a starboard list w/ both batteries being on that side so that I could fix too.

Oh, bite is fine. ;)

Tin, how far above the bottom of the boat is the anti-cavitation plate on the motor?...I'm thinkin' you should be gettin' more than 5300 outta that 200 (what is mfgr max?), but it could be motor too low or in need of re-prop...

Keepin' in mind ya gotta have fairly flat seas to really wind one up and doesn't sound like you had that :-[ ...

Max rpm is 5800 for motor and think I will be close to that on calm day and trimmed up some.
