If I am not mistaken,
this is how nuclear waste and/or warheads are transported. This picture was taken in the middle of Colorado, close to Strasburg. There were two of these cars, one engine and a caboose.

If I remember my HAZ-MAT correctly, that is a cask that they do infact transport nuclear waste in. A big sucker too. I think they barry that stuff out there somewhere in an abandonded salt mine if I remember correctly. Did you notice any placards?
