| Dewaxing

Ok, its 8am, just home from a night of shift work and want to get a little bit of work time in on the boat. Wanted to dewax the hull. I know there is a dewaxer agent you can buy, but was wondering if asetone would dewax the hull as well since I have some lying around and would save a few bucks to ???

Hammer, Acetone is what I've always heard was best for dewaxing...if you got some, then you probably already know precautions... ;)...

I would not use the assetone very often . I have been told that in time it will brake down the gelcoat . There are some mild dewaxers out there that are made for vinyl floors that will work very well . And yes , dawn , joy,ect . ,will also strip wax .

Hmm, ok. I was under the impression when you "De-wax", you are removing the shine for good out of teh gell-coat. So dewaxing simply removes any wax that might have been applied to the hull. Duhhh, I gues I should have known that.
