I agree with you there. I'm thinking of using aluminum for the frame work with 1/4" Star board and Plexiglas. Probably 100 - 150 lbs I'm guessing which wouldn't even be noticed .

If the motor is tuned and all else fails try down sizing from the 15 inch prop, it may be too much . Try a 14 1/4 x 17 prop and see if your rpms come up. That should get you over 5000. One other...

I purchased the Git rot today and I'll apply it some time this week after the transom dries out. I Also think that's the way to go , glass the top of the transom and forget the metal cap....
