Hello everybody, I'm considering to buy the boat in the Title above. It's got a 1993 150 Yamaha. Is this particular boat a stable fishing platform? Will you hesitate to take this 20 miles out considering everything is working perfect? What would be the fair price for this boat? Thanks a lot for your input.

Price will be based completely on condition of boat and power along with equipment, trailer etc.
Do a search on the site for your question concerning the off shore use. Been discussed many times. Good weather window the V20 and 21 will handle it fine. But take into consideration that our V's were not built to be off shore boats in the stricktest sense. They are in-shore all around performers and they are one of the best ever designed for that purpose. That being said there are many who use theirs regulary for off shore work do to the sea keeping abilities of the hull. Many go off shore with boats not as well desigend in my opinion as the V's. They will get you home in conditions that are daunting to say the least and they are famous for doing just that here in the east where I live. Good luck with your search, but if your intention is to go off shore long distances on a regular basis my advise would be to get a twin engine hull at least 23 feet long with large sea boat type scuppers in them and equip it with all the safety equipment including epirb and life raft and the fuel stoage ability to use the 2/3 rule of there and back with safety margin. That is truly the only way to be safe as possible for long distance fishing. Twenty miles is not long distance but weather windows should be your mantra. JMHO

I run an '89 V20 out of the central coast of california on a consistant basis. It does great. I am anal about making sure everything is in 100 percent working order before I run long distances, and I usually run with other boats in talking distances. My suggestion is that a V20 is great in open water if you are a capable captain and know your vessels limitations. Experience is the key! I have seen guys that have been out in sloppy conditions in 24'-26' boats that had less business being there than I did in the V. I also run a 26' Osprey long cabin (it sees alot worse water than the V these days!)

Thanks to all for the replies. I'm not really sure yet If I will be able to utilize the capabilities of the Wellcraft in saltwater environment. I asked the owner today about the trailer if he meant galvanized tandem instead of steel tandem trailer. He said it is steel and it matches the boat color. I was kind of disappointed with his answer. I was expecting either galvanized or aluminum. Anyway, water test is set for this weekend. I enclosed the pictures let me know what you guys think. BTW, he's asking 8 grand. Is this a good price for this boat. Thanks guys.

Good looking rig, but I think the price is high considering the trailer is basically rust if you use it in anything other than a freshwater environment. Hell, the price is high anyways, but I'm half buzzed so whatever.

Hahahahaha! you are funny.. But I think you are right the price is a little high and I'll be limited to freshwater fishing. I haven't seen the rig in person yet. In the pictures it looks really good. I have to call him tomorrow to let him know if I'm all set to water test this weekend but I'm having second thought now. He said his price is firm. thanks for your response.

If you ask me that looks like a galvanised trailer. Boat looks very clean but the price sounds high.

Rambilt,
So what's the verdict? Did you see the boat? Did you buy it?
