Thumbs up

My family and I went down there after Christmas 2006, it is a really nice area.

I highly recommend going to visit the Maritime Museum on the Beaufort waterfront and the NC Aquarium at Pine Knoll Shores.

Yep, we went ta both places last time there. Also visited the house Blackbeard stayed in. Theres a lot of history in that area! We really enjoy walking the streets and looking at all the old restored houses. Id like to take the V but its a 3 hr. ride from my house, a bit to far to pull it!

Looking out my window across a body of water called "The Straits", I can see Harkers Island. It's a beautiful day to just ride around. It's truly Gods country down here.

Well, I came home friday I washed my wifes Forerunner, packed our bags and was all prepared ta go Sat morning. I sat down to watch the 11:00 weather when I heard a med alert call come over my fire dept radio for my mothers address. My 84 yr old stepfather fell getting up out of bed and fell head first onto moms hardwood floor. He hit so hard he damaged his brain causing hemmoraging and pressure on his brain. He was flown to
the Medical College of Va. where they operated and stopped the bleeding and removed the blood putting the pressure on his brain. The doctors gave us little hope, but sat morning he woke up and has minimum paralysis to his left side. They think he"ll make almost a full recovery. Its truely a miracle!! Yesterday his color came back and he stood up beside the bed. My mother has to have round the clock help so Ive spent these last 3 days interviewing and hiring CNAs to watch her because between us three boys we couldnt cover her and work shiftwork. We'll probley try and place both of them in a nursing home together, hopefuly everything will work its way out. My wife called the Inn and moved our trip date to next month when I get 5 days off. Its really been a tough weekend, but I was lucky I was off work so I could stay with my mom And take care of all the family matters. We'll try again next month.

Cfelton, man that is truly a miracle. Very glad to hear he is doing much better. If he is anything like my late grandfather I'm sure he'll be fine. They don't make em like they used to. Some tough old codgers I tell ya. My papaw lived to 93 living at home alone (for the last 15 - 20 years) and only spent about 2 days in a nursing home before he passed on.

He had been doing ok but starting to show his age more and more. One night he got up out of bed and hit his head requiring stiches. He went to the hospital and it seemed like he was going to make it ok at first. I visited him there twice in the week he was there and he had gotten to where he could not speak or open his eyes or anything. I just held his hand and talked to him. Told him who it was and all. The last time I visited just 3 days before he passed, when I got there I held his hand and told him I loved him. After having several family members visiting each day and not speaking at all for days he said, "I love you too." in a weak voice, almost a whisper. Just before I left I did the same thing and he said it again! My mom (his daughter) and a couple other family members witnessed this and as far as we know those were his last words. He went very peacefully.

Sorry man, didn't mean to hi-jack and I wish all the best for your stepdad and I'm glad he is improving.
