Default First sign Im getting old...

I was driving slowly through a shopping center yesterday afternoon with my 6 year old daughter in the back seat. She spotted a pay phone on the sidewalk and said "daddy, why is that phone over there?"

I said "In case you need to use the phone baby."

To which she responds "Oh, in case you've forgotten your cell phone "

I told her no, babe just 5-10 years ago not EVERY person on this planet..(including 10 year old children )... had cell phones.
She said "man, that wouldnt be good"

Man...Ive heard of 8 tracks, seen cd's and dvds come, but I never thought that already a trend would be outdated in my young daughters lives....this is rediculous.

Have you ever looked to see how much that .10 phone now takes?? You would not use it if you were dieing!!

Get use to it!! You are goping to start feeling older more and more thur your kids!!

I get older every day talking to my kids!! Gas is the big one now, I am telling them that I remember using it at 30 something cents and when I was 13 pumping gas it was in the 40's then when I started to drive in 1977 it was .52!!

When we were kids my grandfather would come and give us a quarter and we go to the store and buy a soda .15 and a bag of chips for .5 and have .5 left for penny candy on the way to school the next day!!

And I am only going to be 46 soon!

If you want to really feal old, just visit a high school or college.

Last time I did that I looked around and thought, these kids cannot be old enough to be here.

About 10 years ago, my daughter & I were walking around a goodwill store, she called out "Dad, come over here & look at this old computer." It was a typewriter.......she had never seen one before.

A couple of years ago I stopped a lady for speeding, on my way back to the car to write her ticket I was thinking "boy, I bet she was a real hottie when she was younger". When I wrote down her date of birth I realized that she was born a year after me.

Something else that does it is when I stop a kid for something and they were born 1992. 1992!!!! That was just yesterday.

My first born is a junior at Penn State buisness, just made it thru the process of three interviews with the top Investment firm Goldman Sachs for the internship program there, they select 20 students from the top ten buisness schools in the country for 15 positions in the company.
HE GOT IT!!
I was so proud of him, told everyone I knew, then I realized my little boy is going to be a Wall Street hot shot, I really felt it that night, life is short and even at 53 I feel the age, watching your kids grow and take off.
Wonderful and melancholy feelings at the same time. Life
