Default Some deck and fore deck problems.

Hey new to the forum, I have a few questions on a v20 that I might be getting soon. First under the drivers pedestal seat the deck is pretty soft and goes for about two feet toward the stern from the start of the pedestal and is about a foot off of the gunnel. Second on the front deck it is really soft, I'm a big guy and was kinda worried to stand on it, this softness starts from about half way up the hatch and goes to maybe six inches off the light, also the width of the softness is maybe three to four feet. I can sea some rotted wood under the carpet in the cuddy I just need to know how hard it would be to fix same with the soft spot in the rear. The rest of the hull seems to be solid and the trailer is in good shape. I think the boat is an 1989 along with the 150 Merc. on it. Were getting the boat on a trade from a friend hes looking to down size while were looking to upgrade. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

Welcome to the site.
In your signature add your location.
When ya'll get the boat, take pictures to keep hammer at bay (this also will help with diagnosis).
Confirm the year boat with the HID number (rear right below rubrail), the last two numbers.
A number of ways to improve the floor will get posted.
Rotted wood should not be visable unless it's the dividing wall supporting the cuddy hatch and below the steering and passenger console.

I'm pretty sure its and 89, should've specified more were I saw the wood was where the previous owner put one of the little spring hatches for the anchor line and chain.

Welcome to the site.

Unless you are getting it practically free and want to do alot of work it I would not recommend getting it based on what you have stated above. There's just too many boats out there that are reasonably price and do not have those kinds of issues. Keep looking....let us know what area you live and we will help look too.

Now if it IS practically free and you WANT to do the work - you have come to the right place! Post up a few pics and your questions and these guys will have you off and running in no time.

Just my .02

Nate - by the way I love that Avatar. One of my favorite pastimes is watching fire burn.
