Default Cutting the floor?

I don't think I'm going to be able to replace the stringers through the fuel tank compartment on my 79 v20 as I had originally planned. I'm now contemplating on cutting the floor to gain full access to the stringers. I was planning on cutting the sides of the liner at about where the rod boxes start and lifting the floor out in one piece so that the floor will go back in after I replace / repair the stringers. What do you guys think of this idea? Will it work?
