Default Cost to Replace Gas Tank

What is the average cost to have a fuel tank fabricated and installed in a V-20? *I have an old tank that came out of my project V20 is there a problem with using a used tank as long as it pressure tests?

If it'll hold air under pressure, It'll hold gasoline...as long as there's not something else wrong w/it, I say use it!!... ;)...

If the used tank is good then use it!!

But if there is even one question about it then look for a replacement!!

Are you going to do the install yourself?? If not at least try to get the old out before taking it some where, cause thay can be a pain to get out and you don't want to pay the labore for that much time!!

Then again if you can get it out, you can put it in!!

I pulled a tank from the last V20 I had before I took it to the dump. It was not a job I wanted to do again. Anyway I started removing the tank today, I pumped out about 30 galons of gas water mix and removed the foam and 2X4's that hold down the tank. I filled the tank with water to purge any gas vapor which may have been left in the tank. I plan to cut the top of the tank off with my reciprocating saw. Is this safe?

It's usually around $6 - $8/gallon to have one made . . . depends where you live.

The aluminum neck is a good place to tie a rope to if you want to pull out the tank.

If you have the foam on all 4 sides removed and you can move it around freely. I removed the fuel sending unit, on mine it was toward the rear and applied presure upward. It was tough but it came up thru the opening. I had a engine hoist with a chain and put a 4" bolt sideways in the tank. My tank was bad so i took it to a fab. shop and let them make me a new one from the old temp. paid $350 for a 60 gall... Than i used wedges to secure the tank in the hole. No more foam. The metal thickness on the tanks from wellcraft are not good, careful you dont go thru alot of work and than have to pull it later, they can make you a new tank thicker mill. and than your set. good luck

Tanks out, I filled it with water and cut the top off with a recipricating saw. After the top was cut off I was able to bend the sides away from the foam and lift the tank away from the foam with a come along tied to a tree branch. I'm going to let the foam dry for a couple of days and then replace all the hoses and lay the new old tank right in place.

How do you ground a fuel tank?
