Default Kicker Motor Problem

I have a 88 Johnson 9.9. When I connect the fuel line it will prime ok but soon will run out of gas and stall. If I prime the bulb before it stalls it will keep running. Could it be a fuel pump or something wrong with the fuel hose ???

take the fuel line loose from the carb and turn it over several times see it it is pumping gas out of the hose from the pump to testthe pump. if it is take the carb off clean the needle and seat with laq. thinner and clean the float rod where the float pivits too, you should be good to go. i just fixed one for a guy with same issue.

Also look for an air leak at the o-ring where you plug the hose to the motor.
This should be noticeable when you pump the bubble and gas comes out.

are you runnin it on a seperate fuel tank? sometimes the vents on those portable gas tanks get coroded and fail. i had the same thing happen on my skiff. i took the cap off and beat it against the side of the boat. prob solved. and what was wierd is that my bubble wasnt compressed like you would expect it to be. just kept losing prime.

First the usual suspects, check fuel line has no air leaks, second if you have two bulbs, one for the big motor one for the small check the bulbs. I just went thru this with a brand new boat and motor. Went thru three brand new good quality bulbs in the dealers yard before we found one that actually worked. Next would be what Skools said, pull line going into carb and ensure your fuel pump is actually working because they go all the time, when they do they usually have a leak or break of some kind in the diaprahm, leaky diaphrams are never good ::)
