Default Yamaha Thermostat(s)

Hey guys, Paul here. Been quite a while since i have been on the site.

Got a problem going on I hope you can help with. Can anyone tell me exactly where the thermostat(s) are on my Yamaha 175 1988. Maiden voyage on Memorial Day produced overheat alarm and shut down if I tried to bring the rpms up above 2300.

Since that time with opinions from several other outboard owners I drained most of the fuel and refilled. Installed a fuel/water separator. Replaced battery.

I did manage to find the Pressure relief valve yesterday
and cleaned it up, but can find the thermostat(s). If that doesn't cur it I will mover on to the water pump and impeller.

After doing the PRV yesterday, I ran it on the muffs. I did however tape the muffs so that less water would escape. I got no alarm at all after 10 minutes or so but I am concerned that with muffs taped I might have over compensated for the water pump and impeller and therefore not eliminated those as a cause of the problem.

Your knowledge and comments would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Paul

Looking from the back of the boat on top right and left is were they are, you will see I think brown wires that go to the head on each side for the over heat alarm. Just above the spark plugs

I got rid of mine moptor so I have no pic's.
