Default Motor tilt not working

After I was done with the boat today, I am back in the slip and I go to tilt the motor up and nothing. The solenoids are clicking (up and down) but the motor is not moving - at all. The fluid was topped off less than a month ago the day I launched the boat. It has been slow in the past, but now it is not moving. It is about 1/4 of the way tipped up only because the water getting to the slip is a little skinny, but that is where it is. I have a Mariner 150 1988 model year. Any info / advice is appreciated.

Thanks

Carl

Does the tilt motor run when you push the button??

If so the fluid may be low again or you have a internal leak of some kind.

If the motor doesn't run, Check the wires for a break to the T & T after the relays. Try putting power to the T & T motor and see if it runs.

Good Luck!!

i wouldn't hit the motor too hard, they have ceramic magnets that can crack if hit. I would check to make sure teh motor is or isn't running( previously mentioned), tehn if teh motor isn't running, check for power going inot and out of the selenoids, can't remeber when they changed it, but if your motor has three wires going inot it check teh black wire for ground, if it has two wires, the wires should be grounded when a solenoid has not been activated( it gets its ground citrcuut throught eh un activated solenoid). Then if nothing else works,, smack the motor ;D

It didn't sound like the motor was running. All I heard was the clicking of solenoids. I'll find out more today, but I have to be here at work for the next 8 hours.

Break out a 12V tester and have some one push the switch and follow all the way to the T&T motor and see were you lose the power.
If you don't lose the power all the way, you might be looking at a new T&T motor??

Carl

Carl, same thing happened to me when I put mine back on the trailer saturday. I reached under and tapped on it at the launch and it went up. I pulled the electric motor off when I got home (very simple, four long bolts) and opened it up. The contacts were just little rusty and one brush was sticking. I lubed it all up and cleaned everything with emery cloth. She is working smoother than ever now! ;)
