Default MJ's windshield repair Is DONE!!

Well I got the windshield from Axe (thanks again Axe!!) the other day and it goes on totally different then mine.

Mine had a piece of metal that bolted down to the boat with a piece that went into the side of the windshield to hold it down.

The new one has a track under the frame with T bolts, you never see a screw after the install.

Problem is finding the T bolts?? They need to be a flat square head and no more then 8mm or 3/16 dim bolt.

Guess what there is no such animal in any hardware store or boat place! *>:(

So I had to make my own, after playing for a while I used 1/4 SS Carriage bolts.
I used my grinder and squared the head off, then ground the shank of the bolt to 3/16 or so till it fit in the hole and slide on the track.

I just finished making all the bolts, Now I am off to scrape the old caulking off the boat from the old windshield, then will fit the windshield to see if I have to fill the old holes or will the new windshield cover them?

Will have pic's later today.

Sounds like every project for me,
whether it be on the boat or my house,
I always end up fabricating something cause what I need or want is not available.

Go to it MJ..

Hey MJ, now that I see the bolts you made,
wouldn't water closet flange bolts have worked?

The only problem there is that the bolts are to big, and I am not sure they are SS?

But the oringal wasn't SS either and were on there for 30 years.
I just want the thing to last a life time!! I have no idea why?? As long as it makes it to the end of the drive way its the new onwers problem ;)

Well all the holes are filled and I added some paint to seal the F27, I will be puttibng the windshield up there in a little while.

More pic's to come.
