Top speed with 165 Mercruiser???

How fast do you 165 guys get? I have clocked 42 mph on several occasions on my GPS. I am getting ready to put a Doel fin on her.

My '89 will do 36 mph and max out at about 3700 rpm. Thats with a doel fin.

Glad to see you on board rick. I grew up in Annapolis and am in Grasonville now. Maybe we can do a little "speed test" out by the Bay Bridge one day. ;)

My 1975 hits 33 knots at WOT but I don't take her there very often, we cruise at 23 pretty comfortably

A beautiful day on the water today. With most of the fair weather boaters already winterized, I was out today with very little traffic. With a 5-8 knot headwind, a nearly full 60 gal. fuel tank, bimini down, and about 600 lbs. of people / gear on board I was able to reach 40 mph @ 4000 rpm w/165hp I/O with 21 pitch stainless steel prop.

When I had my set up that way, It got 33 wot curz at 25 or so.

i cruz at 3800 rpm going around 28mph. might get 35 mph @ WOT. i've had a stingray fin on and off, and other than changing the way the fin effects the trim setting, i didn't have a noticable change in speed. i have left it off all year.
