Default Prop for a 225 2-stroke evinrude?

I currently run a 14.5x19" stainless prop on my 85 cuddy. When I'm out I usually run between 3800-4400rpms; enough to be up on a decent plane, without sucking seagulls down the fuel vent line! (I've almost torn the bimini top off going full throttle!) I would like to get the best fuel mileage possible, I don't tow any skiers, and usually its just me and the wife. Is this the best sized prop?

And yes I realize "best fuel mileage" and 225 2-stroke is an oxymoron! ;)

stick with the one you're running you could go to an OMC*15x17 prop but will give same as you have currently *so i say stay with the one you have.

That's what I figured, maybe a little better bottom end, but not worth the expense?

What style prop are you currently running?

I know my 140 on my 19' COBRA will run 43MPH @4600RPM's with a 14"X19 ALUMINUM. And will run 46 MPH @ 5900-6100(6100 is the rev limiter) with a 13 3/8"X17 MICHIGAN match stainless. But my 13 3/8"X19 VIPER will run 53 MPH @5600. My 17 pitch gets me alot lower fuel consumption per hour, but doesn't run at high cruise speeds(probably cruise off around 32-34 @4000). But I can run almost 40 @4000 with my 19. You can spend a BUNCH of money playin with props REALLY quick.

I know that when I re-propped my buddys WELLCRAFT 248 with TWIN 225 EVINRUDE gulpers, I went to the 19 pitch MICHIGAN RAPTURE XHS and his boat picked up over his 19 pitch OMC stainless props he had before. It used to top out around 5700 and run close to 50, afterwards we ran out of ICW at 53(20MPH speed zone ;D) and turnin 5600RPM's with a HUGE jump in economy.

If you find a good dealer, like Chatlee in Sandford NC, when you buy a prop they will let you exchange it for different pitches as long as you bring it back in new condition in the box.

When I bought my 140 Johnzuki from them I went back 4 times for different props, no prob.

Hey Skools, sounds like you might have some competition here. *Perhaps you should consider three of your 225's on your 248 *;D

You aint got nothin to worry about skools, the guy is trying to sell his boat. It's to much for him. Ought to be able to pull off almost 60 if the PORT motor was right, compression ranged from 50-105 on it with less than 5 hours since overhaul. He didn't want to spend the money again to have me fix what the other guy screwed up.
