| Update on Suzuki 140

Thought I would update everyone on the Suzuki 140 I bought back in mid July. Couldn't be happier! Wish I had done it sooner. The 4 stroke is great unbelievably quiet and burns 1/2 the gas of my old 175 Merc. It really nice to know that I have reliable power for when my son pushes the limit! Is the 140 big enough for the V20. It is for me. Get 37 mph at WOT- plenty fast enough. The only problem is that now that I have the shiny new engine I feel compelled to clean up the boat! if you are thinking about repowering , you could do a whole lot worse for more money! PS. MJ congrats on the new sea tank. |

I love my Johnzuki 140 4 stroke as well RE. *I believe it is the perfect motor for a V-20. * What prop are you running? I have a 14x19p that will get me 40 mph and a 14x21p that brings down the cruising rpms a little but only gets 38 mph wot. Both aluminuminum. |

I FINALLY got a chance to do the main part of the breakin on my new Suzuki 140 a week ago. The next day I ran the V twenty miles north for it's first ever REAL splash in the Pacific ocean. I absolutely agree about the engine. The only thing I'd change is the prop. I used a 14x17 and was getting 32 mph at WOT on glass flat water. A buddy of mine owns an oyster farm nearby and has 2 DF140's. He loaned me a 14x19 that I'll use this weekend. (I know Randleman... I shoulda taken your advice on the 14x19... :-/)

Yup. I scared my fishing partener bad enough that every time I stepped up to the steering wheel he'd grab something and hold on tight.

Well, any better w/ the 19p? I actually prefere the 21p because I rarely run WOT and the 21p dropped the rpms a bit @ 20-25 mph. Maybe the motor will last and extra season or so that way.
