Default Odd Baits Near Lakes

OK what is the strangest thing you used when fishing for bait?

I ran out of worms once and since i had caught all the crickets and grass hoppers on the bank i was fishing from. I tried the last option that's always around a pond or lake.

Blackberry's

tried both Green and Black ones Both worked great man i was killin the fish with them. the Bass tore up the green ones but crappy were killin the black ones.

What's yours?

OH MAN I CAN'T WAIT TO HEAR STINKY'S LOL

Used a strip of bologna once to nail some nice bream down at a local creek. Tried to make it look like a worm.

Then the other thing is bare gold hooks. I've caught 5 keeper spanish at one time using gold hooks! On light tackle, that can be a fun fight! Apparently they imitate small glass minnow schools pretty well in spring.

Can't wait to see everybody else's replies too :)

Well.......

I was out at a lake on some hunting club property one day when I ran out of lures. I had fished hard all day and lost alot of topwater baits as the topwater bite was on and that was all I brought. My wife was with me and well she had some female "items" with her. I got desparate as it was right at dark and they were hitting good. I took a piece of mono and tied it to the "string" for a leader. I "rigged" it with a 4/0 offset worm hook. I call it the "Pon-tube Lure" I went with a walk the dog type action and it worked quite well for me.

The hard part was rigging it and you gotta work it fast due to its absorbtion qaulities. I only got 8 or 10 casts in before re-rigging was essential. ::)

*EDIT* no it wasnt a used one, Ill have to try that for schooling sharks.

;D

well on the spring run I took my dad to the river were there are all schoolies. But I forgotm the dam lure box :o
But I had hooks and learders and stuff.
My father took some foil from a sandwhich, wraped it around a hook to look like a small spoon, then he cut a 2" piece of his hooded sweat shirt string, that was red.
Looked like a silver spoon with a red tube on it.

We got about 10 schoolies before it all went to $hit
